It’s good to be home this year, I’ve got alot of friends in the military and many of them are spending Christmas overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq, take some time to appreciate what others have sacrificed this season.

A rainy Socal day.

December 20th, 2010

Took a rainyday trip to Disneyland and finished the day off at the new Porto’s Cafe & Bakery in Downey.

Rainy days are just my favorite, to me it’s the only thing that Southern California really misses. That and snow (but that’s for another day)

I’ve been editing all weekend and it was time for me to get out and get some fresh air.

This incredibly wet weekend provided a great opportunity to get some people watching photos at Disneyland!

As I walked and walked around the park I realized how creepy the Disney employees are in their yellow rain coats.

After Disneyland, We took a trip down to the new Downey Porto’s Bakery & Cafe in Downey. I got to taste some of their delicious treats for the first time.

They had great customer service, who was willing to comply with my newbiness and walked with us through their extremely long line-up of delectable pastries. My favorite of for the day was the Guava Cheese Rolls (sorry no photo, it was gone too fast!)

Joshua Santos- Tha Natural

December 19th, 2010

Joshua Santos AkA “The Natural” is an independent musician I went to High School with. We put a session together a while back.

Me and Josh go way back into High School. I remembered him being into music, but definitely not into the traditional stuff.

It’s pretty cool to see how far he took it.

Anywho, without further ado- here’s our portrait session I did with Josh a while back.

On a whim, I drove down to Long Beach. It had taken a while to get the camera bag packed up, so I left the house at about 5:35am with only a bit of time before the sun went up.

The sky had gone from black to a dark orange. I wasn’t going to let the sun beat me there.

I parked at the nearest possible location for a good photo.

The sun rose. The moment it peeked over the horizon would be forever burned in my memory.

After an exhilarating morning drive, I felt a stillness. I clutched my bag and pulled out my camera…

long beach

After witnessing this, I made my over to one of my favorite shooting locations, The pier. Where I was able to observe one surfer waiting for the swell to come in. He was the only person at the beach other than me.  He noticed me on the pier through a nod we both knew that it was only a matter of time before more people would come.

The waves crashed against the pier, loud and roaring like a lion. I got on the sand and walked on. I kept the camera in hand for whatever came my way.

During my walk, I met these surfers, they were still in high school, I suppose the beach seemed like a better idea than the classroom for today. It reminds me of the antics I used to do when I was their age. One of the times I did ditch, was to this location.

Before I knew it. It was 1100am and the lack of sleep had finally caught up to me. Time to go home.
