Something New…

December 16th, 2013

I worked on this Business Profile for Johnny Bonnet of Black Center Tactical at his home in Norco. I’d bore you with the details, but Johnny can do a better job explaining what he does than I do! If you enjoy the video, please don’t hesitate to share or send us your feedback or encouragement. […]

Ahmad Lewis

March 13th, 2013

We Photographed Ahmad for the release of his new movie, Good Meat Makes Good Gravy late last year. If you’re not sure who Ahmad is, click this link. For his hit song, “Back in the Day.” We selected the Disney Music Hall as it seemed appropriate for his clean and artistic demeanor.

I had the chance to team up with the Cypress College Veterans Organization (CCVO) and photograph some of the strongest women in the world.

For one morning, we pampered these ladies. Provided them breakfast, brought in professionals for back rubs, and a make over.

I donated my services to CCVO so that the female Vets can have a portrait of themselves after their makeover.

Don’t let the term “female Veterans,” fool you. While some are finished with their service, some of the ladies are either in the inactive phase of their contract or still play an active part in protecting our freedom.

For all the sacrifices these ladies gave, one morning is nothing compared to the countless days they put on the line for our freedom.

The CCVO plays a very active role in supporting various veterans get the education and support that they deserve. On weekends you may find the members of the CCVO giving back through various acts of community service, taking part in charity events and finding any way to help those around them.

Check it out. My year. In Photos.

December 31st, 2011

A couple weeks ago, I was on the iPad2 on some Reader App looking through Time Magazine, LIFE Magazine and some other publication’s”Year in Photos”. And it gave me an idea, I’ve had a long year, and it’s really been crazy. I haven’t had two projects that were the same, it’s all be such a great and wonderful experience. If we didn’t have calendars, I wouldn’t know where to start.

If we didn’t have calendars, I wouldn’t know where to start.

¬†Under each photo there’ll be a short story about why I picked it as my favorite photo.

los angeles corporate portrait photographerThe Dentist- She was amazing to work with, she initially wanted just a regular portrait session, but after talking for a few minutes, I was able to convince her to let me sit in and photographer her at work.

The Last Dance, from Alex and Espy’s Wedding. I noticed this gentleman pushing his wife into the wedding venue earlier that day. She spent most of the day in her wheelchair, but when they played the last song, she whispered something to her husband and he helped her up. Alex and Espy told me that she had been battling cancer for quite some time and that their wedding was the first time she got out in a very long time.

southern california product photographyAres Armor. These guys brought me out to Oceanside to photograph their Sling. A simple design that can save a warfighter’s life on the battlefield.

Sheree. Me and her go back all the way through high school. After I switched in during the middle of my Junior year, I didn’t know a soul. Sheree was quick to make friends with me and keep me company.

july

military family photographerPinky+Stinky 365. Communication.  A memory straight from my head. After a long day of training we were sometimes rewarded with the opportunity to write back to our loved ones. Most of the writing that occured during lights out took place under a red light to prevent others from waking up. This photo involved zero photoshop work, it was shot in a single frame.

august

apple valley weddingsMTV from Josh and Theresa’s wedding. MTV gave me a call asking if I had any younger clients who were interested in having their wedding day. I had never worked with such a large entity during a wedding with over 6 videographers and a crane operator, and it was definitely experience. This gentleman is a sound technician partaking in some red velvet cake, note the cheeky wedding attire.

september

rifle photosBOOM! The guys at Ares Armor brought me out to a private range in Southern California. I was there to take some video footage of the group for an instructional video for their sling. I’ve been around guns before, but never as a photographer, standing next to what people are shooting at.(No photographers were harmed during that day.)

october

los angeles car photographer4 car pile up. We had just gotten on the freeway, then traffic abruptly stopped. I was able to stop within inches of hitting the car in front of me, but the driver four cars behind me had no such luck. He ended up causing a chain reaction that would delay our photo session for that night.

november

los angeles wedding photosthe boot. I didn’t think it was possible, but this image marked my first year focusing on weddings primarily. I still photograph other things, but 80% of my work is wedding related.

Erika is a make up artist. A very good one at that.

One day on a shoot, her model didn’t show and that particular photographer asked her to do modeling instead. That single action opened up a new world for our friend Erika.

Erika’s currently in cosmetology school but also works in a tattoo shop in orange county. As if’ this girl isn’t busy enough, she’s decided to get a camera!

To get her to loosen up, I used my trusty model/photographer distraction tool.- My classic Polaroid Land Camera.

We shot near an abandoned shack in Long Beach. The textured background and the unkempt trees surrounding the structure made for some dramatic lighting.

I graduated from High School with Cherry. A few years back, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a disease affecting the blood. Two years ago, this past Sunday, she went into remission. Congratulations Cherry.

A graduate from Chapman University, today Cherry works as a campaign assistant for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She spends her slow days on waves and behind a nikon as well. If not at the beach, Cherry is currently is training hard for a triathlon.

I asked her where she’d like to have her portrait session to which she quickly replied “BEACH!” So I brought her to one of my favorite locations.

Our shoot was supposed to include a quick surf session, however the weather was a bit on the chilly side, so we saved that for another day. But that didn’t stop us from using the beautiful sunset as our backdrop.

This is Anjelo Baligad, a dancing force to be reckoned with. Not more than ten years old, he’s known around the world as one of the best young Bboys around.

Featured on Ellen Degeneres’ TV show twice already, this lil man deserves your attention.

His performance can be found on this link : Young Bboy on Ellen.

His portraits were shot at LAX, a place that doesn’t really allow photography much less breakdancing.

None of the staffers nor the TSA minded his show or my photography.
